Who We Are

Tanzania Federation of Co-operatives Ltd; is the national cooperative Umbrella Organization that promotes, serves and coordinates the work of cooperative societies in mainland Tanzania. (Cooperatives are voluntary organizations, open to all persons able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political or religious discrimination. ICA Statement of Identity, 1995).

TFC Roles and Responsibilities

TFC Membership.

Being open and voluntary kind of membership, TFC currently comprises of 70 members, 52 are Agricultural Co-operatives Societies, among that 44 are Agricultural Co-operative Unions and 8 are AMCOS. 1 Savings and Credit Co-operatives Union League – SCCULT, 9 SACCOS, 2 Housing Co-operative Societies, 2 Co-operative Banks, 1 Small Industry Co-operative society and 3 Joint Enterprise Co-operatives.
TFC represent a total number of around 4,000 Co-operatives Societies spread all over the Country with a total number of around 4,000,000 individual members. The members are diversified in different economic sectors including Maize, Rice, Cashew nut, Coffee, Tea, Cocoa, Tobacco, Dairy, Sugar cane, Cotton, Sisal, sesame, Sun flower, pulses, financial Co-operatives.

Current, the Co-operative movement in Tanzania comprises of 7300 Co-operatives Societies with a total of individual members of 8,000,000.
