Co-operative managers and executives participate in training on project proposal writing techniques.
Co-operative societies possess significant resources and market opportunities, but the major challenge has been transforming these opportunities into bankable projects due to a lack of robust business analyses.
In fulfilling its duty to build the capacity of co-operative members, the Tanzania Federation of Co-operatives (TFC) conducted training on Project Writing and Management in Arusha Region (September 17–18, 2026). The main goal is to shift the focus from routine project applications to preparing proposals with in-depth analysis of the problem, market, costs, revenues, and implementation plan.
Emphasizing this during the closing of the training, the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies for Arusha Region, Mr. Robert George, noted that the main challenge facing many co-operatives is not a lack of funds or opportunities, but rather a lack of high-quality and productive proposals capable of convincing funders or investors to invest. Mr. George expressed sincere gratitude and congratulations to the leadership of TFC and the facilitators from Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) for bringing this strategic training to Arusha Region. He commended these deliberate efforts by TFC to build the capacity of co-operative executives, noting that this step clearly demonstrates the federation's genuine commitment to solving the fundamental challenges of co-operative societies.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the conclusion of this training should not be the end, but rather the beginning of a continuous journey with a specific timeframe for measuring results. He urged the establishment of an evaluation mechanism to see how many high-quality proposals will be submitted and productively executed.
The measure of success for this training is the production of project proposals that can enter the investment ecosystem and connect with financial institutions or development partners. TFC encourages co-operatives to start with an assessment of existing resources and actual needs to identify productive, value-adding opportunities. TFC's focus is to ensure that this training yields solid proposals with actionable business analyses that reach investment decisions.
